As the UK’s most sustainable IT Reseller, Sumillion offices are entirely plant-based.
This is because scientists believe a plant-based lifestyle is “the single biggest way” to reduce your impact on the planet, not just greenhouse gases, but global acidification, eutrophication, land use and water use. It is far bigger than cutting down on your flights or buying an electric car. Agriculture is a sector that spans all the multitude of environmental problems. Really it is animal products that are responsible for so much of this.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) says that: ‘Sustainable diets are those diets with low environmental impact which contribute to food and nutrition security and to healthy life for present and future generations. Sustainable diets are protective and respectful of biodiversity and ecosystems, culturally acceptable, accessible, economically fair and affordable; nutritionally adequate, safe and healthy while optimising natural and human resources.”
There are lots of different reasons you might choose to not eat animal products, and these reasons often vary from person-to-person: ethical reasons, animal welfare concerns, environmental and sustainability reasons, health reasons; in conclusion, a plant-based lifestyle is one of the most important ways you can help reduce the effects of climate change.
Electric Vehicles
We are in the midst of huge revolution in motoring.
Sumillion have always been forward thinking and excited by the possibilities of technology. We saw the potential of electric cars and have been expecting the tipping point where they become mainstream for some time.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle Plastic Waste
We’re on a journey to carbon neutrality and a big part of that is our sustainable waste management. All plastics collected by Sumillion are put back into the manufacturing process.
Wherever possible we partner with vendors who share our ethos. Many of the big names in IT are reviewing their manufacturing processors and introducing eco packaging.
We try to use plastic-free, biodegradable products where we can but have made provision for the reuse or recycling of any unavoidable plastics.
Across the UK not enough plastic waste is recycled – we believe sustainability starts at home.
- Recycled materials are converted into new products, reducing the need to consume natural resources which will help to protect natural habitats for the future.
- Using recycled materials in the manufacturing process uses considerably less energy than that required for producing new products from raw materials.
- Recycling reduces the need for extracting, refining, and processing raw materials all of which create air and water pollution. As recycling saves energy it also reduces greenhouse gas emissions, which helps to tackle climate change.
- When we recycle, our waste is reprocessed into new products, and as a result the amount of rubbish sent to landfill sites decreases, reducing our emissions of methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.
