Sumillion’s corporate social responsibility is to have a positive, lasting impact on society which goes beyond throwing money at a good cause. We believe success means creating a business that empowers customers, employees, and community. We also recognise that we can have a much more powerful role in community development and alleviating social issues by going beyond financial support.
Sumillion run several CSR projects, locally and internationally, and the CRN CSR Award is for our Green School Program.
With a remarkable 80% of Ghanaians depending on forests for their livelihoods, deforestation has a major impact on communities. Sumillion partner with Enliven Mama Africa, The Ghana Education Service, Crops Research Institute, and the Forestry Department for our Green Schools Program.
We work with rural schools and over 15,000 students to plant fruit trees from Mangoes, Avocadoes, Pawpaw, Oranges and Guavas as well as high quality shade trees.
Inefficient and mismanagement of forest resources has led to over-exploitation, resulting in degraded forests that are more susceptible to wildfire and flooding. Our aim is to provide generations of children and teachers with healthy nutrition options and pass on environment and climate education for the protection of the environment and preservation resources.
